“140 euros per month to live”, this farmer from “Love is in the meadow” up to his neck in debt

She is the French’s favorite presenter. It’s been years since the French audiovisual landscape has been without Karine Le Marchand, one of the essential faces of the sixth channel.

And for good reason, for more than a decade, she has been at the helm of M6’s flagship romance show:
Love is in the meadow ,
a cult program which continues to enjoy great success among viewers.

A format that Karine Le Marchand knows by heart since in 14 seasons, Karine Le Marchand has met around a hundred farmers wanting to find love. A proximity to the agricultural world which has recently pushed Stéphane Plaza’s sidekick to highlight this difficult profession via a documentary broadcast on the small screen.

Monday November 27, 2023, the host indeed presented Peasant family: 100 years of history.

A document which traces the lives of six farming families over a century of history. A project that is close to his heart. As proof, via her Instagram account, Karine Le Marchand wrote the following text a few days before the broadcast: “It’s a committed film, which will make you understand everything, I hope, and above all move away from Agribashing and towards Agriloving.”

Laurent from season 14 speaks

A new documentary in which one of the former participants of Love is in the meadow spoke. Indeed, Laurent, the sheep and cow breeder of the 14th season, spoke about his financial difficulties. The one who got into a relationship with Maud before announcing his separation from the latter in 2022 has in fact made it known that he now runs his breeding alone and that he lives below the RSA.

“Laurent’s expenses are so heavy that he pays himself a salary of 600 euros per month”, explains the host in voiceover. A sum quickly spent since once the 300 euros of alimony paid and the costs of his car, the farmer remains 140 euros per month to live on. At 600 euros, it is beyond the RSA so we were not able to give it RSA rights. There is a risk. If this continues without doing anything, we are in for legal recovery.”declares the social worker in the documentary. “It scares me very much”concluded the farmer who also confided that he had already thought about separating from his animals to get by…
