For New Years Eve, security is intended to be maximum in the capital. 9,000 officials will be mobilized to avoid any overflow on Friday, December 31. Journalist Clément Weill-Raynal, live from the Champs-Élysées, takes stock of these restrictions.

The restrictions announced for Christmas Eve on Friday December 31 concern Paris first and foremost, with the main measures being “the closing of bars and restaurants at 2 am of establishments where it will in any case be strictly forbidden to dance. It is also forbidden to assemble and drink alcohol on public roads”, summarizes Clément Weill-Raynal, from the Champs-Élysées.

Similar measures have been decided in the Paris region and in many departments throughout France, such as “the closing of bars and restaurants at 2 am, or even earlier, from 1 am in certain departments such as the Ardennes, Var or Finistère”, details the journalist. Fireworks are also banned in many cities. 130,000 police, gendarmes and soldiers are deployed throughout the country, “including 9,000 in Paris”.
