In Russia, since the announcement by Vladimir Putin, Wednesday, September 21, of the mobilization of 300,000 reserve soldiers to go and fight in Ukraine, Russians have sought to leave the country. Demonstrations took place in the evening, and 1,300 people were reportedly arrested.
Following Vladimir Putin’s announcement of the mobilization of 300,000 reservist soldiers to go and fight in Ukraine, dozens of demonstrators gathered in the most famous street in Moscow (Russia), on the evening of Wednesday 21 September. Unsurprisingly, the demonstrators were quickly taken away by the police. “I came because I have children, I have boys, I don’t want them to go to war”testifies a mother, very moved.
In the evening, rallies also took place in St. Petersburg (Russia) and in several Russian cities. These are the largest demonstrations since last March, and the first days of the war in Ukraine. 1,300 people were reportedly arrested on Wednesday evening. As soon as the mobilization was announced, there were no more plane tickets available to countries where Russian nationals do not need a visa, such as Armenia.
