1,200 households selected at random for the purposes of an INSEE survey in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

You may be one of the 1,200 households in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté who will be contacted by investigators from the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee). This is part of a national survey on the theme of statistics Resources and living conditions which is just starting and which should be completed on April 16th.

What is the purpose of this survey?

This survey aims to provide a detailed overview of household income, financial situation and living conditions. Data on income, financial situation, but also on employment, well-being or health are collected. This information is very useful for studying the distribution of income, better understanding the phenomena of monetary poverty and poverty “in terms of living conditions”, social exclusion and for evaluating the effectiveness of public policies to combat inequalities. The SRCV survey is carried out every year and is part of the Community action program to combat social exclusion. It also allows for European comparisons of income distributions and living conditions between Member States.

And then what happens to the collected data?

The data collected is strictly confidential. As soon as the collection is completed, the responses are made anonymous. They are used solely by INSEE for the purposes of statistical studies.

In the current health context, knowing the financial and material living conditions of households is even more important. The data collected will make it possible to measure the impact of the health crisis on French households and compare it to other European households. Two additional modules are introduced each year. In 2022, they relate to health and well-being and on the participation in social and cultural life.

How is the choice of households contacted by Insee made?

Households drawn will first receive a letter informing them of the investigation. Then, the INSEE investigator will contact them to arrange a telephone meeting, given the current health conditions. If this health period changes, this survey could return to face-to-face collection with the investigators..
