Both united by the love of the guitar, Matthieu Chedid and Thibault Cauvin release “The Mirror Hour”, a joint album released on June 7. They cover titles from -M- or classic pieces, also well-known pieces like “Bohemian”, enriching it all with a few new ones. An apparently improbable meeting, but one that Thibault Cauvin had announced on franceinfo, and which gives a lot of breath to both.
From -M- to Erik Satie, from pop energy to classic elegance, Thibault Cauvin and Matthieu Chedid have united. For Matthieu Chedid, “The Mirror Hour” was born from the desire to blend into the virtuosity of the other. “It’s the idea of talking about words other than the words of the guitar that I could call the blue words,” explains the singer. It’s a subtle way of saying things, that’s what I find interesting in the instrumental. This is what Thibaut brings me : it’s going into music without words, which is something very new for me. And at the same time, it opens up an incredible field, because it is the field of the imagination.”
On all the songs, only guitar and it sometimes works very well, both the versions, originals already rely on the six strings. Thibault Cauvin, for his part, is a classical virtuoso but open to other genres. He already mixed his guitar with a piece by Thylacine, the electronic music producer, a few weeks ago.
“Even if my technique is that of a classical guitarist, my soul is very cradled and nourished by current music. I am very sensitive to this force of managing to bring together pure creativity, of playing music of today and not century-old scores which is another joy”, confesses the musician.
“Our wish was really to rethink this music. There is a new look, a very marked new version.”

For the singer M, insatiable and always looking for adventure, “the imagination is unbridled and infinite.” He pursues : “There’s really enough to do for a thousand lifetimes. That’s what’s beautiful, it’s making the improbable seem obvious. I like feeling a little dizzy. It’s true that it’s is a throw-in every time.”
As for the concerts planned in exceptional places, such as the ancient theater of Vaison-la-Romaine in Vaucluse, the Théâtre de la Mer in Sète or that of the Châtelet in Paris, they promise an experience worthy of the record, full of poetry , dreams and imagination.
