“1:15 pm on Saturday”. The Ravenel, story of a shipwreck – France 2 – 6 November 2021

Fifteen young and seasoned sailors boarded the Ravenel in January 1962, a fishing boat left the Saint-Malo shipyards two years earlier. They never came back, disappeared off Saint Pierre and Miquelon.

What happened ? The weather would have suddenly deteriorated that day: troughs of several meters, gusts of up to sixty knots, polar cold, but all this is not enough to explain the tragedy.

For the first time in a long time, hope is reborn …

Sixty years later, the mystery remains unsolved because the point of sinking is still unknown. Too much time has passed, too much silence, a taboo subject … For the first time in a long time, hope is reborn …

The trawler has been the subject of new research aided by technological means. For this document, signed Marion Banchais, Jérôme Mars and Oktay Sengul, the magazine 1:15 p.m. on Saturday“(Twitter, #1:15 p.m.) was there at the start of this research campaign.
