In a series of four episodes, “1:15 p.m. on Sunday” looks back on the career of Michel Neyret, a renowned ex-policeman and head of the Research and Intervention Brigade for more than twenty years. A tumultuous journey, marked by successes, failures and a conviction for corruption, drug trafficking and criminal association. A story told by Olivier Marchal.

The magazine 1:15 p.m. on Sunday” (Twitter, #1:15 p.m.) dives into the story of an extraordinary journey within the judicial police, that of Michel Neyret, an “old-fashioned cop”. He has more than thirty years of career to his credit, including twenty at the head of the Lyon Research and Intervention Brigade, which specializes in tracking down robbers.

At the time, in the 1980s, the city was considered the capital of crime: arrests followed one another, networks of traffickers fell, so many successes which earned it recognition from the great “Police house”. His methods: hideouts, spinning mills, informants… without which there are no good deals. At that time, he was considered by many to be the best cop in France.

A respected cop behind bars

After twenty years of Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), he became in 2008 the number two of the judicial police of Lyon, a prestigious position, but which bores him. He misses the field. He will get lost in a troubled relationship with a thug. The yellow line is being crossed.

On October 4, 2011, it was a thunderclap, the number 2 of the judicial police of Lyon found himself behind bars. Michel Neyret is in preventive detention at the prison of Health, in Paris. The news is like a bomb. How could this great cop, respected by all, fail?

A documentary series by Morgane du Liège, Vincent Barral and Fanny Martino.
