The magazine “1:15 p.m. on Sundays” (Facebook, Twitter, #1:15 p.m.) looks back on one of the most mysterious and controversial French criminal cases. Interviews with key witnesses, experts who recently worked on the revision of the investigation, members of the victim’s family, or even with those who conducted a counter-investigation.
Thirty years of fighting for innocence led by Omar Raddad and his lawyers. Thirty years for the “making of an innocent” in the eyes of those close to Ghislaine Marchal. Thirty years of doubts, twists and false leads. Thirty years of expert battles in writing or genetics. Thirty years that have resulted in a decision: justice refuses a second trial to Omar Raddad.
The fight for innocence continues
With his lawyer Jacques Vergès by his side, the legal battle begins for Omar Raddad. During the trial, the doors on which appear the inscriptions “Omar killed me” and “Omar t me”. They will remain in the courtroom during the defense arguments. This will not be without consequences for the gardener: despite an intervention in which he proclaims his innocence for the umpteenth time, the verdict is final for the Moroccan, convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison in 1994.
After being pardoned by Jacques Chirac in 1996, Omar Raddad was released in 1998. A first step in his fight to prove his innocence. In 2013, Jacques Vergès died, but the fight for innocence continues. Once again, the doors are at the center of the case: four new DNAs are found on them. However, the justice of Nice refuses to have them analyzed.
A series of four episodes by Anne-Sophie Martin and Oktay Sengul.
