“1:15 p.m. on Sunday”. Odessa on borrowed time – France 2 – April 3, 2022

For this document signed Maxime Beneteau, Fabien Lasserre and Nicolas Berthelot, the magazine 1:15 p.m. on Sunday” (Twitter, #1:15 p.m.) returned to Odessa, the great port on the shores of the Black Sea, whose population mobilized to resist the Russian army, which entered Ukraine on February 24, 2022 at dawn.

David, the French baker, keeps his store open by offering his coffees and pastries, Marina and Diana, 23 and 28 respectively, continue to learn how to handle arms. And Yulia, very active within the city’s Jewish community, organizes evacuations of civilians to Moldova and Romania.

The “Pearl of the Black Sea”

130 kilometers to the east, Mikolaiv is the last lock before Odessa. Ivan and Ian live in a popular part of town recently hit by bombing. They have fitted out the basements of a school to protect their neighbours.

Every evening, the two men welcome around sixty inhabitants there: children, mothers, old people… who have not yet been able to leave the “pearl of the Black Sea”, founded in 1794, to whom food and protection.
