“1:15 p.m. on Sunday”. A circus in winter> Episodes 1 & 2 – France 2 – December 12, 2021

This unpublished series in four episodes of the magazine 1:15 p.m. Sunday“(Twitter, #1:15 p.m.), signed Karine Comazzi, David Geoffrion, Frédéric Capron and Anne Cohen, plunges into the world of the circus with one of its most emblematic families, the Bouglione, bearer of a tradition that has been passed down for eight generations … The four Bouglione brothers began to write this saga at the beginning of the 20th century, focusing in particular on animals and aerobatics.

The other key to their success was the acquisition, in 1934, of the only “hard” circus in the world: the Cirque d’Hiver, located in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. Today, everything has changed: the circus is changing. Within seven years, the law prohibits the presence of wild animals, such as big cats and elephants, in circuses. So the Bouglione have to reinvent the family history …

The animal cause has emerged

Lorànt Deutsch lends his voice to the trapeze artist who, from his height of vision, takes a step back from what is now happening on the track. And Gérard Lanvin brings to life Joseph, the deceased patriarch who tells the story of yesterday’s circus, and the story of the Bouglione family who had bet on wild animals.

Certain address numbers also made the heyday of the program “La Piste aux étoiles”, broadcast on television from 1956 to 1978. And then, the animal cause prevailed. No more beasts and mastodons. Meeting with the Circassian family Casselly, elephant trainer, who worked for years at the Winter Circus.
