“1:15 p.m. on Sunday”. A brief history of political broadcasts > Episodes 1 & 2 – France 2 – March 6, 2022

This unpublished series in four episodes of the magazine 1:15 p.m. on Sunday (Twitter, #1:15 p.m.), signed Maxime Bénéteau and Fabien Lasserre, with the voice of actor Michel Derville, tells the story of the political programs on the small screen of French television: “Equal Arms”, “Cartes sur table”, “L’Heure de Vérité”, “7 sur 7″… and many others.

If they have long been expected and corseted exercises, they have become over time moments that everyone remembers: verbal jousting, cult replies, outbursts… While the world’s eyes are riveted on war today in Ukraine, the presidential campaign, which had already been largely disrupted by the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic, now seems to be taking a back seat.

Television is gradually gaining its independence

In this context, political broadcasts, the in-depth interviews and the deciphering they offer have a particularly important role. And they have often been unmissable events.

After having been at the exclusive service of the Gaullist government, television gradually gained its independence. And it has become one of the main battlegrounds of political leaders…
