For its documentary series “Le feuilleton des Français” (2021-2022 season), the magazine “1:15 p.m. on Saturday” (Twitter, #1:15 p.m.) went to meet Elise, a 28-year-old woman from Le Havre. In 2019, Léa Chauveau and Alexandre Cousin opened their first bakery in Beauvoir-en-Lyons, in the Seine-Maritime department. The town of 600 inhabitants was then deprived of shops and fresh bread.

Three bakeries, including one franchise entrusted to their first apprentice, and 25 employees later, the young couple has a new project in mind: to launch a chocolate factory, La Cacaoterie, which opened its doors in December 2021 just opposite their second bakery in Forges-les-Eaux.

Journey to chocolate lands

Léa and Alexandre are always committed to working with quality products. So they wanted to select their own beans. Budding chocolatiers have therefore packed their bags for South America. Direction Caracas, in Venezuela, to learn how to choose, roast, conch beans, and meet local producers.
