Eleven people, seven adults and four minors, were placed in police custody at the Avallon gendarmerie, reveals France Bleu Auxerre on Tuesday September 19. The suspects are being questioned to determine their role in the mortar fire launched on June 30 and July 16 at the Tonnerre gendarmerie barracks, in Yonne. The charges against them are damage by fire and participation in a gathering.
During these attacks, the hedges at the entrance to the barracks burned, the facade and windows of the building where the families lived were subjected to several mortar attacks.
“These are particularly serious facts, we are attacking the gendarmes but also their families”, declared Hugues de Phily, the public prosecutor. The children of the gendarmes and their relatives are still traumatized by these attacks.
