The sky continues to growl. Early in the morning of Wednesday, September 7, Météo France placed eleven departments on orange vigilance for thunderstorms. These are Ain, Ardèche, Bouches-du-Rhône, Drôme, Gard, Hérault, Isère, Loire, Haute-Loire, Rhône and Vaucluse.

The red alert that had been issued Wednesday on the Gard was therefore lifted. Note that the three southern departments, Hérault, Vaucluse and Gard, are still on orange alert for storms and rain-flooding.

Violent thunderstorms fell on the Gard on the night of Tuesday and Wednesday, in particular in Nîmes. Up to 135 millimeters of rain fell in the city, a spokesman for the department’s fire department told AFP. “The main stormy activity on the Gard and the Hérault is moving at seawrites Météo France in its bulletin. During the night, the amounts of precipitation were very important in the regions of Nîmes (more than 100 mm in 1 hour) and Montpellier (more than 70 mm in 1 hour).
