Emergency services were notified around 12:25 a.m. that a vehicle was on fire at Pointe aux Prairies Park, on Gouin Boulevard, near Highway 40, in the Rivière-des-Prairies sector.

It was only after the flames were extinguished that firefighters made the gruesome discovery. Clues have allowed the police to confirm so far the thesis of the homicide.

” […] A security perimeter has been erected at the level of the park. Investigators are currently on the scene and a command post has been requested on site,” said Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

It was impossible in the circumstances to identify the victim immediately.

“An autopsy should be performed on the body that was found in the vehicle, because for the moment no identification is possible,” said agent Brabant.

An inspection will also be made on the vehicle to determine the exact causes of the fire.

The SPVM investigation is continuing.
