Nearly 3,000 people died in the earthquake that struck Morocco on Friday September 8. The situation is still urgent.

In Ouirgane (Morocco), we feel a sort of general despondency and even the rescuers no longer really believe it. It must be said that for the day yesterday, in the city, no survivors could be located under the rubble. But, once again, the dead were found: seven in total for yesterday. Now, we must especially think about the survivors, with the wounded who continue to arrive from isolated villages in High Atlas Moroccan.

Support in hospitals in the region

No vehicle can access it. They sometimes arrive on donkeys, or simply by walking before being taken care of and sent to hospitals in the region. And then there are the homeless: they are extremely numerous, 300,000 people sleep in simple tents or under blankets, according to the UN. Among these people, there are 100,000 children who are in a state of absolute distress, explains Nicolas Bertrand, special correspondent for France Télévisions in Ouirgane.
