Tasting over 3,500 candies a month for an annual salary of $100,000, all from his couch. Here’s an enticing job posting from Candy Funhouse, a Canadian online candy store, that is looking for its new “General Manager of Confectionery”.
The role is “to lead the + Funhouse + confectionery policy” and to guide the “three “bonbonlogues”” already present.
“At the beginning of last year, we were looking for bonbonlogues, our tasters of original flavors,” Vanessa Janakijevski-Rebelo, spokesperson for Candy Funhouse, told AFP. “We are now looking for our General Manager of Confectionery, who will gently guide our candy lovers!”
The lucky winner will have many responsibilities, such as approving new products using the “DGC (Directeur Général des Confectioneries) label”, organizing “confectionery council meetings” or even the role of “chief taster”. Not to mention supporting “all things fun” in the business.
The offer is open to anyone living in North America who is 5 years of age or older.
It is obviously necessary to have “golden taste buds” and “a passion for sweets”, specifies the job offer.
Candy Funhouse said it had already received more than 100,000 applications in two weeks. “The majority are from adults, but about 25% are children,” said the spokeswoman.
On social networks, the announcement is a great success among Internet users of all ages. An American user, Matthew Crooks, indicated on Twitter that his 8-year-old daughter had applied, and even created her LinkedIn profile for the occasion.
“It’s official @candyfunhouseca she applied. Thank you for helping her learn about the job and the importance of a strong CV, even though she is only 8 years old,” he wrote.
Once selected, the recruit will be subjected to “extensive tasting training” and will, of course, benefit from full dental insurance.
