The 28-year-old man pleaded guilty last September to various charges of criminal harassment and illegally sharing intimate images.

The case began in December 2019 in Ontario, when Eslamdoust met the complainant in this case.

During sexual encounters, the latter had taken a photo of the accused without his consent, leading to a first conflict.

After a few more meetings, they cut ties. However, it was in the weeks that followed that their relationship soured.

Eslamdoust learned that his former lover had sent a racy image of himself (Eslamdoust) to other men via the dating app Grindr. Note that whoever sent the image did not face any charges.

This was the trigger for Eslamdoust to call and text him more than 1,000 times over a period of a year.

He also created an account on Grindr in the name of his former acquaintance, falsely stating that she had HIV.

“At some point, men began showing up at the victim’s home, hoping to have sex with her. The accused, using Grindr, organized these meetings with a false profile while posing as the victim,” we read in a court document written in English.

According to a count, nearly fifty individuals showed up at the Lanaudière man and his friend’s house, looking for connections.

Multiple numbers

Eslamdoust did not stop there, sending intimate photos of the victim, creating different Instagram accounts and leaving messages to relatives with personal and confidential information.

He also called the victim’s father hundreds of times, both at home and at work. In total, the defendant used approximately 98 different app-generated numbers.

Eslamdoust was active for a year, until his arrest in February 2021.

Shame

Inhabited by shame, the accused feared, among other things, at the time that his sexual orientation would be revealed to his family, who are religious, said his lawyer, M.e Dylan Jones.

This “quite particular” situation explains the suggested sentence, argued M.e Juliette Gauthier Soucy, of the Crown, recalling in passing the seriousness of the actions taken.

Judge Dolci wished the accused to be able to “live” with his sexual orientation while being happy.
