In the Hautes-Pyrénées, breeders have launched a minced steak industry. Their meat is a great success with consumers.

There is a solution to the proliferation of scandals linked to traceability problems: it is short circuits, which take advantage of the economic context. This is the case for example for minced steaks. In the Hautes-Pyrénées, breeders are joining forces with supermarkets to offer their products directly to consumers. The approach is unprecedented. Dhe self-service stalls in supermarkets in Tarbes allow everyone to obtain better quality meat.

On the other hand, you have to pay the price. Ground beef from breeders costs about 15% more than the market price. But its provenance seems to attract customers. “It’s a great idea, you have to make the locals work. It’s a great initiative.”, rejoices one of them. In a very competitive sector, breeders had to fight to set up this sector.
