100 meter record for Audrey Leduc | Thunderclap in Canadian athletics

Three weeks after an astonishing time of 11.08 sec, the sprinter from Gatineau did even better by achieving a time of 10.96 (wind + 0.5 m/s), Saturday, at the LSU Alumni Gold meeting, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The 25-year-old runner thus broke the Canadian record for the distance and reached the qualifying standard (11.07 s) for the Paris Olympic Games next summer.

The previous national mark of 10.98 had been held by the late Angela Bailey since 1987.

Leduc finished second in the event won in 10.88 by the American Aleia Hobbs, finalist at the 2022 World Championships. The Quebecer is now fifth in the year’s results.
