Canada is powerless in the face of these gigantic fires that have been devouring the country since May. 10 million hectares have brûlé this year, either the area of Portugal or the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur regions. This is the result of three months of ever-increasing fires. More than 4,000 have been identified.
150,000 displaced Canadians
Fires ravage forests, block the roads. They also threaten urban areas. 150,000 Canadians had to be relocated in fear. “You don’t know if you will find your home”, underlines a local resident. Reinforcements of French firefighters were sent to lend a hand to the Canadians.
