10 arrests in Valencia within a group involved in several shootings linked to drug trafficking

Ten people were arrested Monday, September 25, early in the morning in Valence, in Drôme, suspected of being part of a group very active in drug trafficking, franceinfo learned from reliable sources. This group, called the “Fontbarlettes team”, is suspected of being involved in several shootings over the past two years.

Several weapons were also seized Monday morning including automatic pistols, revolvers, rifles, but also narcotics. The operation mobilized around a hundred investigators from the judicial police, the Raid, the BRI but also the new national investigation unit set up by Gérald Darmanin.

Four dead in series of shootings

“This is the consequence of the events of last April and May” specifies Monday morning to France Bleu Drôme Ardèche Laurent de Caigny, public prosecutor of Valence. During these two months, a series of shootings broke out in the city, in a context of settling scores between gangs. Four people were killed and several were injured. After the second homicide, on May 12, the prefecture announced an increase in police numbers in Valencia, including the deployment on the ground of around a hundred CRS as well as zonal reinforcements.
