1 in 25 inhabitants tested positive

Over 360,000 positive cases of Covid-19 observed in 24 hours on Tuesday. A new record. And Ile-de-France is particularly affected by this epidemic outbreak. The incidence rate has crossed the 4,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (4,024 cases) mark, a level never reached in mainland France since the start of the epidemic. In comparison, the average incidence rate in France is 2,790 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Concretely, this means that one in 25 Ile-de-France residents (4% of the population) tested positive during the week of January 4 to 11. Five Ile-de-France departments exceed the 4,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants mark: Val d’Oise (4429), Seine-Saint-Denis (4242), Essonne (4209), Val-de-Marne (4075), and Paris (4045). Two others should soon cross this threshold: Seine-et-Marne (3,941 cases) and Hauts-de-Seine (3829). The Yvelines have slightly fewer cases (3471).

The Ile de France now has 6,000 hospitalized patients, an increase of 22% in one week. The number of people in critical care is increasing slightly less quickly: + 17%, or just over 900 people.
