Métabief-Mont d’Or / Jura Mountains
Metabief-Mont d’Orit is obviously a Jura Mountains ski resortbringing together six villages: Les Hôpitaux-Vieux, Les Hôpitaux-Neufs, Jougne, Les Longevilles-Mont d’Or, Rochejean and of course Métabief !
Métabief is thus all the joys of the mid-mountain, outdoor recreation as well as the pleasures of the table, heritage, landscapes or the art of living!
Alpine domain
The alpine domain of Métabief-Mont d’Or connects 37 km of slopes for all levels in 3 sectors: Métabief, Superlongevilles and Piquemietteleaning against different slopes of Mont d’Or and Morond, from 900 to 1423m above sea level
The Alpine domain is made up of:
- 41 tracks : 10 green, 13 blue, 12 red, 6 black
- 19 lifts
- 40% of the domain equipped with artificial snow
- 1 safe learning area for children : the Jura Kid Park
- 3 freestyle areas : snowpark, EasyPark, BioPark
- 3 freeride tracks ungroomed and secured
- 1 toboggan run maintained and secure at the foot of the slopes in Métabief, with free access.
- 3 uphill ski routes
Nordic domain
The resort area is also Nordicin his profile as in his soul, for all the pleasures of hiking, discovery, landscapes, the great outdoors, strolls or all the desires for performance in cross-country skiing !
The village is crossed by the GTJ – the Grande Traversée du Jura – a 180 km long cross-country ski route, unique in France, now also in snowshoe version precisely from Métabief for 117 km of roaming!
For cross-country skiing, Métabief-Mont d’Or also offers a wide variety of pleasures in the Mont d’Or, L’Herba, Métabief and Entre-les-Fourgs sectorson slopes zigzagging between alpine chalets, or offering you the most beautiful balconies on the chain of the Alps, just beyond Lake Geneva, Mont Blanc as in a catalog!
To spoil nothing, some initiation trails are free to accessand the station also offers fun learning stages for children at Granges Raguin (Rochejean) and La Seigne (Les Hôpitaux-Vieux) with foam figures, bell hoops, cones, and other tunnels.
Climate Change, Tourism Change, and New Philosophies
Metabief-Mont d’Orit is a resort with 6 villages, but also a resort with 4 faces, like so many seasons. Thus, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, backcountry, ski-joëring, summer tobogganing, winter buoys, winter or summer caving, ice climbing , or even 2 winter wheels, fishing, swimming, trail running, paragliding, electric scooter, climbing, via ferrata, or canyoning!
Desires and aspirations in terms of leisure are changing, nature consumption has taken a sharp and decisive turn, modeled on lifestyles that have radically changed.
The station must therefore cope with these profound climatic and societal metamorphoses. This is the reason why it has embarked on a program which will draw entirely new outlines in the very medium term. Will the pylons of the ski lifts still cover the summits of Mont d’Or in the years to come? It is also the whole question of a complete facelift which is being prepared now!
