The Diago: a must on the calendar
In 1996under the impetus of a few cycling enthusiasts fromFRIENDSHIP of the public schools of Saône, a mountain bike ride open to all is organized in the form of a loop around the village of Saône. under the name “Hike Between Two Velles“, the demonstration – against all odds – then brings together 400 mountain bike enthusiasts !
The Diagonal of the Doubs was born.
Hiking is like this renewed under the same conditions in 1997 and garners the support of 800 attendees.
In 1998, the Diagonale du Doubs changed by making its first character trait: the new formula is articulated around the transport of participants by special trains from the Saône station to the starting points of the three mountain bike routes.
The bikes are driven by trucks and given to the 1000 participants of that year, at the start of each route.
The success of this formula propels the Diagonale du Doubs to the rank of the most important mountain bike event in the Doubs and one of the first in Franche Comté.

The Diago: a hike, no stopwatch!
The Diagonal of the Doubshas not lost its soul: the Diago is a hike, without a timer; just fun and friendliness.
The choice of routes, the preparation of supplies and the famous Pasta party are also the DNA and the success of La Diago, which the organizing committee also wanted to include in its line of commitments and convictions: respect for nature and the environment – as many materials used will be recycled as possible and the transition to “Zero Waste, Zero Goblet” – but also a celebration for an entire village! Saône is indeed decorated, from shop windows to houses. In short, the whole village breathes “Diagonal”!
The Diago: tailor-made pleasures
Junior, family, friendly, basic, sporty or expert tracks, the courses are modeled on all desires, all profiles, whatever your experience or your state of form. Whether it be by mountain bike, cyclo, electrically assisted mountain bike, gravel, or on footthe essential remains the happiness of shared pleasure, in all definitions of the pleasure sought.
The Diago is also a unique setting : undergrowth, trails, nature, forests, improbable paths, scenery, landscapes and panoramas, on simple or technical routes, dotted with single tracks or quite simply studded with viewpoints!
New for 2022: the Gravel bike course
This year, the Diago offers you a new playground. Try the gravel bike: a tailor-made bike to discover new horizons and go on an adventure whatever the terrain, the destination and the weather. The Mountain Expert team offers you a course alternating between roads, forest paths and white paths. Dare the gravel bike course from the age of 15 !
The entertainment village
Village pro and partners, musicians, entertainment, ravitos! After the effort, enjoy a moment of conviviality with family or friends, including a trial bike show and demonstration with Nicolas Fleury! Tombola, electric bike tests, musical entertainment at the finish site and at the aid stations, slackline, pony rides, introduction to archery, clown and magic show, and many other surprises for a 1st festive May!
