Elon Musk is putting an end to rumors about constructing a multi-million dollar estate in Texas intended for his large family.
He clarified to PageSix, stating, « I don’t own, nor am I building a compound in Austin. No grand family compound or home has been built or is expected to be built. »
Musk did mention that he has « an idea for a big futuristic art project in the Austin area that would be open to the public, » but he admitted he has « had too much work to get that going. »
The billionaire further dismissed claims made earlier this week by The New York Times, which reported that he purchased a $35 million, 14,400-square-foot mansion designed in the style of luxurious Italian villas.
It was also stated that Musk intended to create a family compound by acquiring nearby properties. When asked for clarification, Musk mentioned that he does not follow the outlet and has not read the article.
Additionally, the report claimed that Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis was living in the alleged residence with the three children she shares with Musk. Musk responded, asserting, « Shivon has her own house, and she bought it for much less than that. »
The Times article claimed that Grimes, Musk’s ex-partner, has stayed away from the purported Texas compound as they are currently embroiled in a legal dispute over parenting rights. Musk refuted this, stating, « Claire lives in LA in her own house. Our kids spend alternating weeks in Texas and California. »

Musk further stated, « When I’m in California, which is typically two to three days a week, mostly for Tesla work, I stay at friends’ houses in the Bay Area. »
The former couple has three children together: X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus.
The Times article also referenced Musk’s first wife, Justine Musk, with whom he was married for eight years, suggesting « there is room in the Austin compound if they were to visit, though he is estranged from at least one of those children. »
Together, they have six children: twin sons Griffin and Vivian, who are 20, 18-year-old triplet sons Kai, Saxon, and Damian, as well as their baby Nevada, who tragically passed away from sudden infant death syndrome at just 10 weeks in 2002.
In response, Musk noted, « Justine lives in LA and isn’t moving to Austin. »
The founder of SpaceX also denied allegations that he offered to donate his sperm to friends, including Nicole Shanahan, who was once RFK Jr.’s running mate.
The report stated, « At a dinner party held at the home of a well-known Silicon Valley executive last year, Mr. Musk offered to provide his sperm to a married couple he had met socially only a handful of times, according to two people who were present for the interaction. »
Musk countered, « I did not offer to be a sperm donor to Nicole or some random married couple. »
Austin has become increasingly appealing to the billionaire, especially following his announcement in July to relocate X and SpaceX to the city.
