Considering how much I loved Dom Wars: Rounds 1, 2, 3, this book really surprised me. Parts 1-3 were really hot, had lots of good chemistry between the characters, and the plot was pretty good. Parts 4-6 absolutely fell flat.

And poor Steve. In the first four parts, we see Steve as a competent, former Secret Service agent who can get shit done. Suddenly, in 5 & 6, Steve becomes a bumbling, stuttering Evangelical who can’t even discuss sex without having to pray for his soul. It was so awkward I cringed. Incidentally, nonsensical personality changes in characters are a big pet peeve, and contributed to ruining the book.

Then there was the character of Preacher. Was this supposed to be Christian BDSM fiction or not? If it was, that’s fine, but start the theme in part 1, don’t throw it in half way through part 5. It was added in almost like an afterthought, and not very well planned out. Preacher himself is a fascinating character who might be better off used for his own book instead of a secondary character in « Dom Wars » and as a half-formed plot-device. (hide spoiler)]
